You could say: It’s a Pixar movie! What else to expect. But it’s a film about the Hypothalamus, the inner workings of humans. How could you make that possible?
I don’t know who had the incredible idea to this film, but boy do I wanna congratulate and thank him/her.I haven’t seen a film this good and touching in a long time. (And yes, I know for most people this film is already somewhere at the back of your minds, but it only just made it to Austria. Film-wise it sucks living here.)
For those of you who didn’t catch the film at the cinema: We follow the five emotions Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger of Riley, a twelve year old girl who, after a perfect life in Minnesota, has to move to San Francisco and goes through a couple of pretty up and down days.
I always say this but I don’t wanna give too much away (and I always feel like I would) because I went into the movie not really knowing what it was about to watch and that was exactly how I would want you to do it. (Just because, I personally hate it when I already know what happens.)
And let me tell you, if you like Pixar movies and good story telling you’ll love „Inside Out“. The eye to detail that went into not only the story but the animation, the characters. So many times you can recognise yourself in those characters, in their reactions. It is such a wonderful and inspiring film which carries you through all emotions (okay, I never felt angry, but how could I? Well, no that’s a lie. I got angry at the guy in front of me playing with his phone right before the film started. I am sorry, I am a bit crazy about this, but I just can’t stand it. Those bright phone screens in movie theatres…let’s just let it go *cueFrozen*). ANYWAYS, I hope this film will become (well, no, I don’t hope, I know) one of the Oscar Nominees for Best Animated Feature Length…but I also hope they can get a Original Screenplay Nomination. Would be well deserved.
Definitely go see it (if you live in the dark ages of Austria and Germany) or watch it however it is possible for you. It is wonderful.
Thanks for reading, until next time :)
