Spectre Challenge: „Conclusion“

Nope, not another Bond Film…just a review of the reviews. I know, so creative. I thought I just summ up the Spectre Challenge in a short (?) little post and rank my TOP 5 films and tell Who, in my eyes, is the best Bond.

But before I reveal my results I wanted to tell you something: These lists are highly, highly subjective. This is my opinion and the result of my current state of mind. Meaning, this is not set in stone and can change at any given time. I also do not think that if you feel differently you are wrong and I am right, not at all. I rather think that its quite interesting how different we see films and perceive them. And to be completely honest…if you don’t like my list, tell me yours down in the comments :) I’d love to read them. But for now… these are my TOP 5 Bond films:

No. 5 „The Man with the Golden Gun“

Yep, I don’t know why, but I really enjoyed this film with a young Christopher Lee. It’s one of those that stuck with me and that I remember really enjoying.

No. 4 „Goldfinger“

It had to be in there. The plot was awesome…the idea genius. And…that song. Shirley Bassey’s voice is just so damn good.

No. 3 „Dr. No“

The first Bond had to be in there. Sean Connery, Ursula Andress. It’s the beginning of something special.

No. 2 „Skyfall“

So different, something so new. The film that smashed the box office and finally gave us an insight into Bond’s past. The cinematography was just so good on the eyes…I loved it.

No. 1 „Casino Royale“

I was one of the loudest ones to hate on Daniel Craig before he even was on screen. Well, that served me right. „Casino Royale“ is one of those films I can watch over and over again and I might even love it more each time. Vesper has become my favourite Bond girl, and every time I hate how this film ends for her. On the other hand „LeChiffre“ might just be my favourite Bond villain…which could just be because I f****** love Mads Mikkelsen as an actor. I also think „Casino Royale“ is so well written, I love the first meeting between Bond and Vesper on the train. Well, I guess I just love everything about this film … it had to be Number 1.

Yes, I know. So many good ones are missing. Picking a TOP 5 was really hard, but these are the 5 films that I can safely say, I can watch over and over. I might watch another Bond one day and be asking myself why I didn’t include this piece of genius, but right now, I am fine with my picks. Bond is something special to me and I cannot wait for the next one (yeah, „Spectre“ wasn’t what I expected, read my review Here ).

24 films, 6 Bonds. Each one so different, it sometimes was scary…and then pleasantly surprising. Here is my „Who’s the Best James Bond“- Ranking:

  1. Daniel Craig
  2. Sean Connery
  3. Pierce Brosnan
  4. Timothy Dalton
  5. Roger Moore
  6. George Lazenby

Sorry, Sean Connery Fans, but there is something to the new Bond, that I just can’t resist. I am even shocked about myself because I thought after the challenge Pierce Brosnan would come out as second…but sometimes childhood memories blur you judgement. Like the TOP5 List, this is subjective and had nothing to do with being more right or wrong than someone else’s opinion…especially because it’s sometimes hard to judge their performances. What if Dalton would play in „Octopussy“ or Moore would have done „Diamond are Forever“? We’ll never find out…sadly.

Like I mentioned above: Comment down below and tell me your Top5 Bond films. I’d love to know.

Until then,

Thanks for Reading.

  1. hello,
like your photograph, bond style. Good idea. I will start to comment the next days. recorded Skyfall and will watch tomorrow.
The list of the best Bond Actor – Connery, Moore, Brosnan – very different types, very different scripts, more or less humor – so difficult to judge and rank.
    more …… follows….
